Jesse Vance (b. 1991, Canada) began photographing in 2009. His early career was spent working in the film industry as a technician. Years of experience in that field spurred his interest in landscape photography.
Vance first explored panoramas with high contrast scenes. He later transitioned to a conceptual approach, with more involved compositions and lower contrast, with results that were painterly and soft. His artistic intention was to create a sense of relaxation, as if exhaling a long breath.
With passion and expertise, Vance finds real joy of the creation of the final print. He seeks to reproduce the emotion felt at the location, and often conjures a particular narrative in his mind about the subject matter.
Vance’s work has been accepted by several international competitions, including the International Photo Awards, One Eyeland Awards, and The ND Awards. Also, Vance has donated three large format prints to the Surrey Urgent Care Response Unit.
He is currently represented by Urban Art and Decor in Langley, B.C. and The Commotion Virtual Salon.
